Japanese Duolingo
Can Duolingo teach you Japanese? No. Can it still be useful? YES!
Duolingo is free and it reminds you (very) regularly to work on your Japanese. Its kanji drawing practice is decent (I'll be forever complaining about the lack of free kanji drawing app that allows you to learn in any order...) and it's also good for listening practice. However, it teaches you zero grammar and you're basically on your own trying to understand why you should use a certain word instead of another, or how to build your own sentences.
So let's try to fix that!
Standard disclaimer applies: I'm not formally taught in Japanese. This is me learning in public: there'll be mistakes. We learn to embrace the process. If you do spot mistakes, please tell me so this site can get better!
Specific disclaimer: I'm not associated in any way, shape or form with Duolingo. I just think I'm not the only one out there trying to make it work.
For each unit, I'll go over the kanjis, vocabulary and grammar. Each word will be presented with their frequency (in anime/drama, in the news, on Wikipedia, etc.) and their level (N levels for JLPT tests and Kanken levels - the same but for Japanese people). I'll also give example sentences, from doujins/mangas/anime/songs or other real Japanese sources.
